Emily Slager is the Vice President of Admissions for Monte Nido. She began her eating disorder treatment career as an inpatient clinician at Walden Behavioral Care in 2006 and has worked in different departments and all levels of care in the organization over the last 18 years. Though somewhat removed from direct care in recent years, Emily has held onto her clinical roots and dedication to helping individuals of all backgrounds access lifesaving care.
Emily earned a Bachelor’s degree in sport organization from Miami University before spending a few years in the field of sports marketing and event management at Octagon Worldwide. She then received a Master’s degree in mental health counseling from Boston College and started clinical work at Walden. Emily worked as a clinician on the inpatient unit before becoming Assistant Director and then Director of Walden’s residential programs. From there she moved into clinical operations in the ambulatory programs where she oversaw clinical and operational aspects of several in-person and then virtual PHP and IOP locations for adolescents and adults and started the GOALS IOP for competitive athletes. Most recently, Emily has taken on the challenge of integrating the admissions functions and teams for the various brands and geographic regions across Monte Nido. Emily works collaboratively across departments on “behind the scenes” operations aimed at improving the client experience and increasing access to care.
When not working, Emily is happiest spending time with her wife and twin daughters, traveling, watching college sports, running marathons, and cheering from the sidelines of her kids’ soccer games.
