Program Options & Length of Stay

Monte Nido Treatment Center
Residential Treatment Services and Transitional Care

Length of stay is generally around two to four months but clients can arrange for shorter or longer time frames based on individual needs.

We offer a level system with sequential adjustments in the amount of structure and freedom provided. Clients progress through our level system at their own pace.

Eventually, with the clinical team's approval, clients can move on to transitional and independent living depending on their needs.

The Eating Disorder Center of California
Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Treatment

The Eating Disorder Center of CaliforniaThe Day Treatment and Intensive Outpatient Programs at the Eating Disorder Center of CA (www.edcca.com) may serve many functions. The EDCC may serve as a stand-alone facility for clients that may need this level of care for recovery. It may serve as a transition option related to the Monte Nido Residential Treatment Program or other inpatient facilities. In addition, it may serve as a holding environment for those clients waiting to get into Monte Nido. Many of the staff have worked, or are currently working at Monte Nido and have been trained in the philosophy and techniques developed by Carolyn Costin, LMFT. The Eating Disorder Center is a small and intimate group with a maximum capacity of 10 clients.

The EDCC is located in a beautiful, guarded, modern office structure in Brentwood, California. Privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. Since the clients spend the majority of the day in the facility, a semi-private outside atrium is attached to the office structure, where clients can relax during their break times. Local restaurants, except when clients dine out, cater food. All meals are eaten with staff in accordance with level criteria. Bathroom visits are staff supervised until this is deemed unnecessary. Two meals and two snacks are served Monday - Friday in the Day Treatment Program. A Saturday and Sunday Program is also available. Step down from this level of care may entail the Intensive Outpatient Program, which consists of half-day treatment including the dinner meal only. Step down options are determined on an individual basis by the treatment team.

Community Counseling for Individuals and Families
Outpatient Services

Community Counseling is a unique outpatient eating disorder program. The outpatient eating disorder specialists, many of whom have recovered from eating disorders themselves, offer both individual, family, and group therapy. You will take an active role in your own treatment plan and will not simply be prescribed a standard treatment formula to follow. With your help, Community Counseling will evaluate your needs and implement an individual program for you which consists of therapy, nutrition, exercise, and behavior modification. You will learn how to restore your metabolism and how to control your weight in a healthy way, which Community Counseling knows is important to you. Additionally, you will learn about the underlying stresses and problems of life that have helped cause or contribute to your turning to starving, binging, or purging as a means to cope. The staff works with you as part of the treatment team. Community Counseling recognizes you have a unique situation and needs. They can help set you up with a dietician, doctor and/or a psychiatrist.

Is Community Counseling Right For You? The first step is the hardest to take. Community Counseling asks you simply to take the time to call and find out more about their services. They can answer any of your questions, evaluate your needs, help you with financial arrangements including checking your insurance coverage and most importantly, you will get a feel for our philosophy and our staff. Community Counseling has offices in Agoura Hills, Malibu, West Los Angeles, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara.
